A recurring regular program of LSCS normally presented once a month. Attempts to answer member questions by the leader or other knowledgeable members.
Addresses subjects as basic as "Copy/Cut and Paste" of text or files, and up to how to correct system slowdowns due to various causes.
If you are a computer beginner feel free to ask about what you need to know.
When members run out of questions the leader demos things beginners SHOULD know about their systems.
Some things that have been shown are:
- How to change settings so text is easier to read.
- How to manage the Programs menu to make programs easier to find.
- Making the Start menu more useful.
- Making the Quick Launch toolbar an essential feature.
- Navigating with the Save As dialog box to put files where you can find them.
- Adjusting Display Properties for easier viewing. (Remember to adjust your CRT monitor to reduce any black around the display.)
- Using free programs available from the internet & on LSCS-DVD-02/LSCS-CD-13.
- Suggestions for safer emailing and how to avoid losing messages and documents in progress.
- Adjusting Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer to maximize viewing area.
- Learning the "Language of Computers" so you can ask questions.
- Learning about "System Restore" and system backup.
- Very useful keyboard shortcuts.
- Bypassing the Recycle Bin when deleting files.
- Learning about system problems via the Device Manager.
